Rae RezWell is a Deaf Dominican-Canadian mixed media photographer who expresses her intersectional identity through her artwork. She utilizes a combination of mixed interdisciplinary art, photography, and alternative photography processes, showcasing her diverse skills in her creations.
Her work focused on her experiences as a multiracial and Deaf individual, addressing themes of culture, heritage, and trauma while also emphasizing meliorism or the belief in progress and hope. Rae thoughtfully selects art materials that resonate with her emotions and visualize perspectives, incorporating colours, textures, symbols and soundscapes that come with both soft and loud that evoke memories.
Rae RezWell earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from NSCAD University and a Creative Photography Diploma from Humber Polytechnic. She is also pursuing an MFA in Fall 2025. Her artwork has been featured in various exhibitions, including the Nocturne Art Festival at Night 15: Legacies (2022) and Love Is The Antidote at the Wildseed Centre for Art & Activism (2024).
